This mahogany 1800’s chest came out of a mortuary. They had used it for people to put their monetary donations into ( see photo # 4 for viewing the 2 slots where the money was dropped into). The money then fell behind the 2 small drawers on the top, and fell down into the first big drawer. This drawer could only be opened with a key, because there never were any handles on this particular drawer. The chest measures 42 inches wide x 22 inches deep x 57.5 inches high. It has wonderful dovetailed drawers and alot of age to it. There are a few MINOR flecks of veneer off in a few spots, but they are very hard to discern. This is also a very heavy piece…..it makes you want to think there’s some lost gold in there somewhere!!
